The Game Plan

Turning Players Into Elite Shooters

Positions

It's essential for players to have the ability to get different parts of their body in proper positions to maximize the efficiency of the shooting motion.

Proper positioning plays a crucial role in repeating the same motion consistently, which leads to better results.

Examples of positions include the hand in the middle of the ball and under the ball, a locked wrist, loaded hips, and a high follow-through that finishes in the center of the rim.

Patterns

Better positions lead to better shooting patterns. These patterns or motions will lead to more rhythm and increased fluidity.

As players improve their patterns, I will use randomness and variability to compete for their focus in order to make the patterns habitual.

Performance

The performance step provides the opportunity to translate shooting into game-like situations.

The players will have to make a decision to pass, shoot, or drive, which produces an environment for feedback, failure, or success.
